Display Driver

Postby Hammer on Sun Jan 03, 2010 10:17 pm

Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem.....When playing ArmA 2 or and other games I get a black screen. I can play for awhile then it happens. I get an error message saying = Display driver stopped working and has recovered. I have to ctrl + Alt + Delete to get out of it.
I updated to the latest Nvidia Forceware driver for my Nvidia GTX 275 running Vista 64 bit , I turned off Windows Vista Aero Theme and I also switched around my memory and still nothing fixed this problem.
Old HamDog looking for some......HELP!!!!!

S!

Make sure your new card isn't overheating.

Hammer, I have had the same message as well. I have a 9800GTX+ and my driver is whatever the newest one that they had out for my card in the spring of 2009. I just ignored it and it went away (well, I have not had any issue for several months anyway). You might have to reboot in some cases, but it is just a BS message.

I think this happened to my old 8800 GTX a couple of years ago. I think if you uninstall all the nvidia video drivers and give yourself a clean install it may help. I seem to recall it worked for me (it was a long time ago) ::|:

If that doesn't work, it may be an overheating (try taking off you computer case when you play to help the card cool down) or a power supply issue.

If it happened on 2 different cards (but same case) I would think this is a power supply issue or a over heating issue.
